Michael Fryar is an attorney whose career has centered on education, children and families, and public service. He currently serves as Senior Counsel in the federal government.

Michael began his career as a classroom teacher, working with at-risk students, starting a student technology team, and creating professional-development training on effectively using technology in the classroom. He then worked as a social worker for a child protection agency helping children in foster care keep stability in their schools while everything else in their lives was in chaos.

He earned his J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law on a full-tuition scholarship and practiced law in Connecticut for two decades. He began his legal career with children’s and education matters, and his practice later grew to include civil rights, mental health advocacy, and conservatorship work for elderly and vulnerable clients. While practicing, he enlisted in the National Guard and served as a sergeant in a military police unit. He also holds an MBA in finance from the University of Connecticut, a B.S. in Communications and an M.S. in Early Childhood Development from Southern Connecticut State University.

Outside of work, Michael writes articles and commentary on education law, public service, and policy. He is the father of three.
