At 18 he moved back to Connecticut to attend Southern Connecticut State University where he earned a Bachelors in Communication and then a Masters of Science in Early Childhood Development with a focus on Constructivist Theory. Michael taught 6th grade in Bridgeport and then Branford before leaving to become an education consultant for Plato Learning. His territory was everything East of the Mississippi River where he trained teachers and staff to implement distance learning and computer lessons into their live curriculum.

Michael returned to working with children after receiving a JD from Quinnipiac University with a focus in Juvenile and Education law. While in law school he worked for the Department of Children and Families, the Connecticut Child Protection Services State agency. On graduation he began to take on clients in the same region he had worked, able to navigate the systems and negotiate with former colleagues.

In 2006, after graduating from law school, Michael was inspired by the events of September 11 to join the Connecticut National Guard as a Military Police Soldier. He attended AIT at Fort Leonard Wood in 2007 at the age of 39. He graduated and service for 6 years with the 143rd in Hartford, CT.

By 2008 he had enough clients to start his own firm. In addition to representing children and families, he expanded to take on a contract with the State of Connecticut as a conservator for indigent dual diagnosed homeless clients. He has continued this work despite moving to Maryland in 2017 and added a contract with St. Paul, MN in 2023.

He is currently working on a book about his experiences in homeless advocacy titled “Twixt Heaven and Hell: The Reasons (and Solutions) to Homelessness in America.”

In 2025 Michael is celebrating his 18th year of marriage with his 3 children by taking his wife on a series of adventures culminating in a romantic dinner for 5 at Casa Bonita on their anniversary.
